That makes sense. Thanks spoon.

Thanks for digging my old MusicIP "How to …" out of the dark ;-)
I must have had too much time when I wrote that … all these

Then again, it’s still the way I do it today: Get BPM values into

I'm not reasonable. I had a $600 turntable in the early 70s. This was
when a new Corvette cost $3000.
I don't see any point in a cheap solution to extract "good enough" sound
from an LP.
If you only have a few LPs that you care about, borrow a good turntable,
preamp, and sound card. Or buy the CD

How can I import hi-res downloads from Linn or HDtracks if I've
configured Squeezecenter to use the ITunes library? I have a slim

Hi moley6knipe
Thanks for the advice, I've stripped out the v1 tags and SC nows sees
the v2 tags instead.
It does seem strange that you cannot control which tags SC uses, I can
appreciate that the powers-that-be at SC do not want it to become a
fully-fleged tag editor (although it would be handy
Because that CD has only been submitted by one person, and they did not
rip the whole CD (perhaps did not want the other tracks).

did the free download thing end? I can't find the free stuff anywhere on
their website anymore. Can somebody pm me a link or post it? Thanks. I'm
up and running again and am in the process of reripping things to FLAC
(or ALAC--haven't decided yet)

Hi Both,
Thanks for the reply, whereabouts is the multi tag element set ? I've
had a look at settings and didn't not

All of the above observations and comments are absolutely correct from
the perspective of a true audiophile. As I said in my post, I prefer
the sound of my 30 some year old Sony with a good cartridge, but the
T.90 gives completely acceptable results. I use Magic Audio Cleaning

I recently looked into this, for the same reason. I decided not to buy a
USB turntable (which often come with line-level output, rather than
phono, as well as the USB port), because my Audiolab amp has a good
phono stage in it (I believe). I thought that a USB phono stage and
interface built into
I use EAC to rip CDs and I mostly manage an accurate rip on the first or
second attempt. However, I was ripping a commercial CD today where I was
told that 7 of the tracks were not in the AccurateRip database and the
other 8 were not accurately ripped. I tried 3 times and compared what I
got on ea

it's pretty important to me to keep it clean. Not so much for
Photoshop, but for resource hogging Nikon software that I use

But we don't know how good the USB interface on the Stanton is :)
Anyhow, you can get a Turtle Beach card for $50 which is pretty decent
(or check ebay for used M-Audio/Turtle Beach gear). Guitar Center will
sell you a nice Behringer preamp for $20. Leaves $230 for a used
turntable and new needle
