On a point of order. The album got renamed as PG's FM at some point to
differentiate. The original 1968 cover said FM and had a dustbin on it.

I solved the problem by calling the 1968 album's artist "Peter Green's
Fleetwood Mac" as per the cover.

Seriously. I don't think you can really call it a bug.
When you do a clear and rescan all folders are treated equally with the
date of the files only used to order New Music. If the scan was required
to check for the location of files before determining what to write in
the database it would take

subdirectories (both under the artist subdirectory Fleetwood Mac), the
albums of the same name show up twice in my album listings as two
different albums of the same name (and NOT mixed together). The artwork
next to each is differe

Wasn't referring to your post Gary but going back to the original
thread.
The suggestion was that Fleetwood Mac/Fleetwood Mac x2 in different
folders would get amalgamated on a clear & rescan but would appear
correctly if one was subsequently added via a scan for new files.
It is a bit of a myst

I can't find where I saw that so still don't know if its true. However I
did doiscover that echonest (the service used by smartmix) only uses
artist and track title and NOT the album name so its irrelevant anyway.

Indeed I was thinking of Michael's AlbumReview plugin when I added this
comment. But since I wasn't sure (and too lazy to search) I phrased it
more generally. But if my memory served me right, chances are good that
Michael implemented it the same way for Smart Mix.

Mac. This is the 1968 album (from the Peter Green era). I already

There are some (very rare) cases where I have two different versions of
the same album. For example, I recently bought Pink Floyd's Discovery
Box containing all their studio albums, of which I had already a few
when they appeared originally.

b/c of the GH logic. the two albums of the same name both by "various
artists" should NOT be getting merged into one album b/c they are in

See the first post in this thread. The OP has two albums with different
artists and the same album name, and they are merged in the LMS display.

same name by the same artist (or AA) will NOT be merged IF the albums

Simple. Give the albums different names. I do this frequently with
albums named "Greatest Hits" by appending the artist to the album name:
"Greatest Hits [Elton John]", "Greatest Hits [Eagles]", etc.

Scanner trims white spaces before and after the name but not between
the words.

I'm not sure how you have the server set up, but if you set it up to
browse multi-disc sets by disc, you could make one disc 1 and the other
disc 2.
That depends on the rest of your collection.
Other ideas:
--put a single space after one of the album names. That should work
