A friend recently gave me a burned audio CD (Red Book audio, not MP3 or
other data).  When I play the CD in my car CD player, the player
displays artist/title info for each track.

I was unaware that audio CDs had tagging capability.  I've also been
unable read/write any kind of tags from the audio files using the usual
tagging software.  The CD was created on Windows XP, not sure exactly
what tool.

Can anyone refer me to some details on how tags work on audio CDs? 
Also, if anyone knows of any linux software that can read/write these
tags?
