It depends. If you've centralized all of your audio devices in the system that
hosts '/var/snd' then yes, NFS is no longer needed.

Yes, NFS is used and required in networked installations, but in read-only
mode. It's not required to share /var/snd in r+w mode, which was very
dangerous.

Do I have this correctly?
1. NFS is no longer used/needed.
2. Apache/rdxport.cgi replaces NFS.
3. Importing/Playback of files goes through Apache/rdxport.cgi for
file retrieval.
Does the rdxport.cgi work over https? If not then do I need to run
satellite workstations
