Personally I've not played with the LiveWire ... However MODBUS does work very
well with Rivendell 2.19.3 here ... I'm able to physically separate the
automation system and the MODBUS interface across town via private IP microwave
link. Sea I/O 420 is the box I use here. Well worth a look

I would like to be able to setup back up (redundant) rivendell machines for
our stations, which is easy enough except for having to duplicate gpio's
