Job Vacancy: British Embassy Bucharest - EU Economic Officer <<...OLE_Obj...>> The British Embassy in Bucharest is looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable EU / Economic Officer Role: The Embassy is looking to appoint an analyst for a 11-month period to fill an interesting and active position focussing on Romania's economic performance and progress towards and beyond EU accession. The successful applicant will be part of the Embassy's EU/Economic Section. Main duties and responsibilities include: Gathering information from a wide range of sources (media, IFIs, local think tanks, Ministries, etc.) on the Romanian economy and on Romania's progress towards and after EU accession. Reporting and analysis (written and oral) of economic and EU issues. Identifying and promoting economic projects in line with Lisbon Strategy goals. Explaining UK's EU policies to Embassy's contacts and partners and understanding Romania's own EU agenda. Developing and maintaining a wide-range of economic and political contacts. Contributing to the delivery of the Embassy's public diplomacy strategy (via public events, website, speech-writing, etc.) Arranging programmes for visiting UK officials and others. Candidate: The ideal candidate is expected to have the following qualifications and skills: A degree in economics, an economics-related subject or in European studies. Experience in a similar position would be an advantage. Proven analytical skills with a strong background in economic and political analysis. EU knowledge/experience would be a distinct advantage. Excellent written and spoken English and Romanian. An ability to deal effectively with Romanian and foreign officials and organisations and to represent the Embassy at meetings, seminars and other events. Proven organisational skills as well as strong initiative. Computer literacy. Available for some in-country travel. The jobholder should be a self-starter and a team player that needs to work without close supervision on multiple tasks and cope with tight deadlines.
