The first prerelease of Rosegarden-4 1.2.4 is now available as a source
code tarball from:
http://rosegarden.sourceforge.net/rosegarden-4-1.2.4pre1.tar.bz2
It is planned to be released next friday, July 14 2006, as a bugfix release.

This idea about associating instruments to segments instead of tracks
needs to be elaborated deeper. I think it will not be ready to be
released in Rosegarden 1.3, so everything is still open, and it will
remain open for some time.
I dont see necessary to make this new association mandatory.
