I think this is what you did (rev.8797). I subsequently changed the
implementation a little
At revision 8796 everything seems to be fine here. Maybe one vote more
can help. No alignment problems (using 1280x1024 resolution).

for those of you who remember the "Quick Marker" function I created
some time ago, I've just committed to Trunk (Revision 8786) a small
patch allowing for a small red flag in the ruler to show the user
where the quick marker is.
If you don't like the symbol or the color I can try to desig
