From what I read yesterday, the actual comet will not be visible to the naked
eye but the impact could POSSIBLY be visible (if it creates a large explosion)
with a telescope from west of the Mississippi river. It will already be below
the horizon therefore too low for viewing east of the Miss.

That has to be the same comet. If anyone has a
telescope, it's worth taking a look at. My 'scope is
only 1/3 the size of the one at Bama, but the comet
looked pretty brilliant through it last night. Hell, it
looked pretty good through binoculars!
