Alabama head coach Mike Shula said several young players have caught his eye thus far. He mentioned offensive linemen Antoine Caldwell and Cody Davis, defensive lineman Curtis Dawson and weakside linebacker Demarcus Waldrop.
Two of those players - Caldwell and Dawson - have switched positions since coming to Alabama.
Dawson, a middle linebacker at Hoover, moved to defensive tackle during the season.
Caldwell, who was signed to play center, moved to left guard during the bowl practices.
"A lot of us are working out at new positions, just getting prepared" Caldwell said. "Coach Shula said whatever we could do to make the team better."
Secondary coach Chris Ball said the best way for newcomer Lionel Mitchell and freshman Simeon Castille to become the team's cornerback duo of the future is watch current starters Ramzee Robinson and Anthony Madison.
"Those two need to latch onto Ramzee's and Anthony's work ethic, work as hard as they do and they'll be all right," Ball said.
Alabama will practice twice today for the second time since opening bowl practice on Friday. It will be the final two-a-day session planned for the Tide.
