Why?? Too much trickery?
In other rules changes: and a player in punt formation will no longer
be permitted to fake a punt, then throw a pass.

Maybe they figure some of the defensive players
ain't all that smart.
I do know that if I'm playing a SEC team in a bowl
game that play goes into my play book. Stupid
rules are made to be exploited.

Here's the way I've had this explained. Can't say if this is accurate or
not.
The punt rule is merely to prevent the punter from acting like he kicked
it, but instead to throw it straight up high in the air so that it LOOKS
like a punt ... and then having his guys run down and catch it while the
I can live with it too, but it's still dumb as hell. Every time the offense
lines up to punt the fscking ball the defense is supposed to be aware of the
possible fake. What damn difference does it make if the punter *fakes* the
kick then pulls up and throws the ball? I see no need for this dumbass
Either way, it makes no difference to me. I have never seen anyone fake a
punt that way. Faking a kick before throwing increases the likelihood of
the play being blown because of how slow the play develops.
