Ruby on Rails and Java Developer required in London


This is a contract vacancy for an initial 12 months offering market rates.


We are looking for a strong Java developer with Ruby on rails skills who 
has experience of web-based technologies. The successful applicant will 
work within a complex development environment including Clojure, Java and 
Ruby to deliver successful Client projects, including enhancements to the 
client’s Spree Commerce installing, configuring and developing customized 
code for WebSphere Commerce.  The successful candidate will also be 
involved in Developing custom Controller Commands, EJBs and JSPs. 
Performing the maintenance and modification of programs currently in 
production. Code new applications from predefined program specifications.

  *Mandatory Experience:*

 

   - Full project lifecycle experience in delivering complex, high volume 
   applications preferably Internet based
   - Solid Java programming skills, 18 months+
   - Strong Ruby on Rails skills, 18 months+
   - Experience of designing, developing and integrating with RESTful Web 
   Services 
   - Experience of working in an Agile (Scrum, TDD) and Devops environment 
   - Good SQL skills, exposure to MySQL
   - Hands-on experience with Unix based systems including perl and bash 
   scripting

 

*Preferred experience:*

 

   - Experience of Spree Commerce
   - Working knowledge of MongoDB would be beneficial
   - An interest in learning Clojure would be an advantage
   - Experience within a J2EE development is welcomed 
   - Previous experience of e-commerce solutions highly desired
   - Experience of Front End Web technologies such as Javascript, CSS, 
   HTML, XHTML an advantage
