I am currently developing an iOS app with a ruby on rails API back end. My iOS constantly has to poll my API for changes, so of course I am looking to find a solution for this inefficient method.

But from what I have found in terms of tutorials aren't very helpful, especially when moving to a production setting using elastic beanstalk aws (what i am using). What are good solutions people have used that are out there?
