Hi all,
This is now Trac #10744 (http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ticket/
10744). I've uploaded a patch to provide demazure_character (based on
Daniel Bump's patch above), plot, and degree for the WeightRingElement
class.
Comments, suggestions, and kibitzing are appreciated!

I'm guessing that #9074 was merged and slightly clashes with
#10723. It seems to have changes to the part of graph_latex.py
where there is a conflict.

The patch itself is not at the trac page. What is
at the trac page is a *link* to the patch and the
description:
"patch under construction on the Sage-combinat queue"
A first version of the thematic tutorial for Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals
