Just to pile on, I think that this change also breaks Weyl Groups
(perhaps for the same reason).

I just got up, and would push the base ring change for root / weigth /
ambient spaces.
But somehow, my patch has tons of doctest failures due to
sage: ct = CartanType(A1)
