The latest version of giac is 1.5.0-35 (1.4.9-45 is exactly 1 year old
now). Some compilation bugs were reported by Dima on Xcas forum and fixed
some weeks ago.

There is now 'NULL' string returned in cases when there was no output and
multiple commands may not generate "automatic" output.
I do get complaints about it from SageMath

compile_result_dir = os.environ['XML_RESULTS']
in src/setup.py?
It was introduced in https://trac.sagemath.org/ticket/9828 in a ticket
about upgrading Cython but without explanation...
