Something that has vexed me since first posting Windows releases to
GitHub is that I would have liked to have at least *some* download
statistics for it, and yet GitHub doesn't display that anywhere on the
website.
However, I was just noodling around in the GitHub API (trying to

these static libraries? Why?

The stuff in
./local/share/gap/pkg/SmallGrp-1.3/
are not static libraries, to begin with.
Otherwise, indeed, why not systematically try to add "--disable-static" in
spkg-install files to everything that accepts it, and see how it flies
(IIRC there are few places that need static libs)

for performance reasons. I live perfectly well without static libraries
in sage-on-gentoo and I would think most ot
On Debian gp (from pari/gp) links statically to libpari, for
performance reasons.
