If one tries to build Sage on Solaris, there is a warning the Solaris
operating system is not well supported and it's tricky to build on
Solaris.

Building or using Sage on Solaris is tricky and not supported
at the moment. It is possible, but you should be well aware that
some things do not work. To get past this message export the
variable $SAGE_PORT to something non-empty. Support for Solaris
is actively being worked on.

I personally think it would be a good idea if a similar warning was
produced for *any* unsupported operating system too, rather than just
Solaris.

When I tried a quick compile of Sage on HP-UX (compliments of the free
'HP Testdrive' program)

http://www.testdrive.hp.com/

I found no such warning issued. It might be worth putting a warning,
and again allow someone to bypass it by setting $SAGE_PORT to
something non-empty.

Comments???
