Thanks. I redid the build. It now worked. Changed $SAGE_ROOT in my .bashrc to point to rc3 _BEFORE_ starting anything (even though rc is not yet build). Then redid everything from scratch. It was not clear if one should change $SAGE_ROOT to the new root before or after the build is done. This
