Thanks everyone for all of your help and advice! I just showed my boss how I used ode_solver/sage/python to model and fit some tricky chemical kinetics data, and needless to say, she was very impressed.
I'm thinking this ode_solver function will be quite useful for our lab in general. If I play my cards right, I may be able to convince her to set up a dedicated Sage/Linux box in the lab for this purpose.
