WARDS OF SALIGAO ( BAIRROS OR VADDE ).
On 27th March1759, the Saligao Communidade convened a meeting of
the Ganvkars to select ‘louvados para assistirem em pottes’( experts to assist
in the registration) from each ward. According to the minutes of the years 1756
to 1760, the following are
THE BELLS OF ST ANNE.
Now from their turrets gray and old,
Where call the swallow in the gloom,
The tender bell of eventide
Float out across the night’s perfume;

Stirs the shadows like a flame,

--Tie- breaker at Saligao. Friends Circle, Saligao will organize an all Goa 3
- a-side soccer tie-breaker tournament, on August 1, near St. Ann’s Chapel,
Saligao, at 2.30. p.m.
The winners and runners-up will receive Rs. 5000 and Rs. 3000 respectively.

To-day we begin the History of the Wards of Saligao. The various events that
took place in the past which has shaped the present for us, I hope, will lead
our coming generations to continue its progress in the same vein if not better
in the years to come. O
