Well Fred already answered the SQL DMO part, so that's an easy one for me

As for the upgrade, just install it over the existing 3.x version (make sure
to have a backup of the hostfile). Via the FILE-IMPORT menu item you can
import the "old" v3 hostfile.
And no you can't create subgroups.
