The external check is using the credentials of the user running Servers
Alive, so it could well be that the result is different for the user running
SA as it is for you when you run it via the checkerrorlevel application.

Oh. Big Caveat I forgot to mention. It doesn't work across routers. You
must check FROM the same network that the load balanced servers run from.

You can do that check by copying the following into a text file called
SAArpCheck.pl:
=SAArpCheck.pl
$ip = shift;
$mac = shift;
if ( $ip eq "" ) { die "Syntax: SAArpCheck.pl []"; }
`arp -d $ip 2> NUL`;
`ping -n 2 $ip`;
$checktxt = `arp -a $ip`;
if ( $checktxt =~ /.*$ip\s+([^\s]*).*
It's not a lock-up of Servers Alive as such. Servers Alive issues a
winpopup API call and this one is blocking for several minutes. Once this
API releases its call Servers Alive can work again.
Try sending a winpopup message with a (net send) it will give the same
result.

Not a daft question at all. Yes ServerY will asume the IP address of ServerX if a failover occurs. Both servers have multiple NICs with the same IP addresses - so whilst ServerX is active & replicating data to

I was thinking
We have some users with "click and drag-it is";
they just can't stop moving folders around. I would like an alert when
someone mistakenly drags and drops an important folder on our file
server. I have looked at two different ways and am curious if anyone else

Can
you configure DoubleTake to exclude a special directory? Then you
could place your check file in that directory and check for it's
value.
Thanks,

Can
you add a unique IP address to each box? That would make the solution
simple...just use that IP during the checks instead of server
name.

If not you could ping by ip rather than hostname.

It's not a ServersAlive template - you just put any HTML page on both
servers, assuming they're both running IIS. One file says:
ServerX
And the other file says:
ServerY
Then, in ServersAlive, you use a URL check on the server, and the
string you're looking for is "ServerX". Anytime it shows
