Title: Logging on Status Change
Hi,
I have a requirement and I know SA can do it but just could not get it to work.
I would like to the events to be logged when there is a status change.
There is an option in SA that is called Syslog, in the logging option. I have installed the Kiwi Sys
Ok, seems like I got it working finally.
I had to change both to the IP address, apply, ok, exit Servers Alive.
Go back into Servers Alive, and the test messages worked without a problem.
Changed the IP addresses back to the DNS names, Apply, Ok, exited Servers
Alive.
Went back into Servers Alive,

I've been looking at the log, and I'm wondering if I might've left out a key
piece of information. After you gave me the tip about changing the alert to
only send after multiple, consecutive 'down' events, I've gotten far fewer

As usual Dirk you're correct. I found a stray alert entry that may be

That's not correct. The "when back up too" is only trigger IF the down

Is it a "Down" alert or an "Up" alert? When "and when backup too" is
checked SA will send an up alert every time the threshold is crossed
even if it does not send a down alert because it hasn't reached the
consecutive cycles limit. I see this a bit with one of our machines. I

the best I can do is speed up my "off-hours" checking to every 1 minute

So it's just the processes that are failing. Both remote and local.
Now just to see if it's realy those 500 hours OR the number of checks I
would suggest to reduce the time between the checks.
So if you're now checking every 2 minutes, I would reduce that to every 15
seconds for example.

Hi Brent,
I've got a question.. I'm trying to use your sample for the Drilldown
menus... The template references a file called OneGroup.ASP... But I'm
not sure what that is... and for some reason, the page that's generated
from the drilldown sample template has the groups expanded by default..
Is that the uptime of the SA machine or of the machine you're monitoring?
Can you still "see" services and check them?

starts reporting all NT process checks as down.

Running scripts on the linux box is probably your best bet. Dirk had a nice

the app I have included with my version now is telnet only. Perhaps you can
