I recently corrected a similar issue on two Win2003 servers. The fix was to set the SA service to run as system* with desktop interaction. All of this has to be done on the machine, not a terminal services session, and then the service needs to be started while sitting at the machine. Then I lock

I am running SA as a service on Windows Server 2003.   Lately I have been experiencing the service terminating unexpectedly.  I have debug logging set to maximum, and every time SA crashes, it's right in the middle of writing the log file.  A log file sample from such an instance looks like this

Frankly I agree that if you were to secure the server this would not be an issue. However, since the "bug" refers only to the help file and not the creating of the alerts I think (and someone correct me if I am wrong) that by removing the local manual from the service version you would elimin
