Hi list :-)
I'm looking at some new things that could/should be added to Servers
Alive.
I think that we should have more specific virtulization based checks.
Now the first thing that pops-up is, will it be VMWare or Hyper-V or
both? Ofcourse both would be best, but I would like to know what
Guest O/S: Up Time, CPU Utilization, Memory usage, Running, Stopped,
Paused Provisioned storage over used storage,
Host Storage capacity, Host storage used, or remaining. Uptime. Last
reboot, number of ON guests, total guests, OFF guests,
I would say pretty much anything in the Summary,
We are also using VSphere and any or all of the checks on the list from Anthony
would be of interest to us as well.

WE are monitoring a PRTG installation. I do this by checking the machine the
service and the web interface. A few upgrades ago the ssl web page check
broke. I am certain it was in response to one of the OpenSSL bugs. Now I get

We use Hyper-V here. CPU Utilization, Memory usage, machine state (running,
paused, stopped) would be the most useful checks. However hyper-v function
alerts would be even more useful. Check the hyper-v State it is paused, then
Start/resume virtual machine alert kicks off.

Historically weâve used the NTService check for monitoring windows services
that could not respond on a given port. However as there was a third-party
library involved, it was less than responsive to the timeout parameter and at
times run upwards of 20-seconds per check. Does the NTProcess
The process checking is use a different way to check then the service,
infact they could not use the same technique as from a API point of view
checking a process or sevice is totaly different.
What does take time and that is something generic of the OS, that is
authentication and there is
