I want to authenticate a share on a linux server with a windows 2000 domain
controller(mixed mode). Samba alone works fine authenticating against

We are currently running samba 2.2.8a as a PDC on our network. However,
being that samba 3.0 is not to far from having a stable release, I wanted
to ask some questions on what is the safest way to upgrade samba on my server.

I have been installing samba3.0 on debian to authenticate users from a 2000 server
(AD). Using the samba3.0 how to document I have compiled and installed OpenLDAP,
libkrb5-dev, krb5-user and samba3.0. When going by the how to, I get to the stage of
typing /sbin/ldconfig -v | grep winbind and
I have used an XP Pro machine to add the other drivers, which seems to
work just fine.
