I'm a little stuck. I've tried searching through the archives with no
success. I'm trying to get Samba 3.0.2a to use LDAP simply to do
username & password validation. I don't want to save the samba
information in LDAP. I built samba with the following options:

I'm using an OSX machine to connect to our Windows 2000 server. We have
16 shares on the server but only 10 show up when I connect via smb but
when I connect via afp they all show up. Is there a way to have all
16 shares show up when I connect via smb and why do they all show up

I had no idea Samba was going to work in that way.

This is not a Samba problem but a problem with the way Windows
applications edit files. Word (and many other apps) will actually
rename the original file, create a new file and save to this and
then delete the original file. They do not make modifications to

server for win workstations.
Then, you should use "net time \\server /set /yes" in netlogon scripts

If you log into the domain, then right click in the Start menu, and
click on the Open, you can edit the start manu entries. Go find every
desktop.ini especially in Startup folder, and delete them all! Maybe you
have to do this twice or more.

For a PDC, the first thing I would recommend is, "security=user" not,
"security=domain".
The "=domain" setting tries to pass authentication to another PDC/BDC. If you
are looking to set up a PDC you need the, "=user" setting.
