I'm experiencing problems with samba (2.2.7a on linux & 3.0.15 on hp-ux)
with windows xp (sp2) clients
to make it short, an application reads and writes files on a share
when the share is on a windows (2003) server, the network traffic is "normal"
when the share is on a samba server, the net
if you're working with posix quotas, you have to specify a hard limit,
which is then the limit for the user, which maps the drive, that has the
quota on it

problem and not how Samba handles wake up calls, you might do better at

installation (all the packages are downloaded from samba.org). Reading
the "Samba 3 How-To and Reference Guide", on Chapter 4, it says that you
can use srvtool.exe package to administer users and machine accounts but

Well a strange thing is going on here, I am able connect to the Samba server
from my WIN XP client box which on the same subnet as the samba server and
PDC. But when I go to a different subnet I get permission denied message
when connecting to the samba server. I check the logs on the samba serve

The problem was due to a hotfix.
I took a test machine and started removing hotfixes.
Removing KB890047 fixed the problem. Searching form KB890047 and samba
confirmed others had this problem before.
I went back to the production machine; no KB890047 installed. Drat!
A little more searching; KB89004
Unfortunately this still doesn't work. As a note, I thought about this
and had added the root account to the Domain Admins group.

I upgraded our sambainstallation today since it got into problems with
Windows ADS 2003.
So I installed all suse rmps for 9.2 (samba 3.0.14) and tested with a few

I think this problem ocurrs when a port is use by a printer, in example when
i have a printer connected in lpt1, when i tried to map this port to a samba
queue, it raises the error you told.
