Hello,
I do volunteer work for a local non-profit business. I've
built several computers for them, set up their network, etc...
A few years ago I set up a Samba PDC server for them with
Windows XP clients. The current setup works fine. The Windows
clients store their profiles and documents on the

Hello, I would like to use Samba for sharing files between two linux
computers (both Ubuntu 6.10). I want samba, not NFS, since occasionally
some windows computers connect to the network as well.
Is there anything special that needs to be done in addition for normal
setup used for

To start, you'll need to give each machine it's own netbios name.

Oops, yeah, I know about that, I did not realize this difference in
smb.conf. Sorry for the misinformation. The files are actually as follows
(so they have unique names):

workgroup = UBAKA
server string = bill
security = share
netbios name = bill1

Hi list
I'm running a samba 3.0.24 with an ldap backend and as a print server.
The server is also serving printer drivers for my Windows clients.
If more information is needed please let me know.
I have a question about tdb files.
Some of my tdb files haven't been touched since my installation
Hi all,
I'm trying to set up a share that is readable by everyone, but writable
by only a few. From my understanding, this should work:

path = /tank/media/Audio
comment = Audio Files
write list = sound, @Domain Admins, @Associate Admins
force user = data
Hi all,
I ran into a problem with samba and immediately googles for answers. I
found 30-odd references to places where this question has been asked
before, but no answers. I asked it myself here and got no answer.
Perhaps this is this a fatal bug in samba if no one knows how to fix it.

Don't we also need this in 3_0_25 ?
