after upgrading a Debian samba server to 3.0.24 a few weeks ago,
everything seems to be ok until yesterday, when I've added a new user to
the domain. Now, the new user can join the shares from the samba server
from linux or win9x machines, but not from XP/2000 machines, wich
refuses to log
i tried with samba 3.0.22 and 3.0.24 and not working
or i have something misconfigurated
when i copy file to share it have -rwxrw
after flaging it readonly become -r-xr-
and i can still delete it with windows explorer
any idea why?

1) Creating a Folder on a my samba share works in general via WinXP,
but setting the permission doesn't.
On the new Folder ++ doesn't
show any selected check boxes. After selecting a check box +

server with samba/winbind. I can get a full NT user and group listing
from the member server using wbinfo but the PDC returns the error message.

I have a strange issue that occurs when one of my XP Pro system tries
to connect to a samba server (2.0.24) on either a Sparc Solaris 10 or
Sparc Solaris 9 system.

and gets most information, some groups that shouldn't be empty are empty
(including "Domain Users"), and some groups that contain other groups (that are

Turns out I had some cruft in the smb.conf file -
After I deleted:
status = yes
client lanmn auth = no
client code page = 437
from my smb.conf file smbd started without issue.
