Sometimes problems just disappear. :)
Yesterday openSUSE published a patch which updates Sam
No error message if I run that same command manually. If I try to join
the domain after creating the user manually, I just get an access
denied error on the client with no log in smbd.log.

I recently setup a new server with CentOS 5.2. Everything works great on
the server except when I try to join the domain it simply tells me:
"The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "Domain":
The user name could not be found.

It's about 6 months old, but I reinstalled eerything using just this
article as procedure, and it works fine.

some time before, but this time it's not working.

Sorry for the misleading information.
I use censornet and that stopped authenticating to the domain when I
did the upgrade to 3.2.x - I thought you might be suffering the same
issue.
