1, create a generic barebones smb.conf(i.e. no ldap backend and such),
2. started up samba
3. shut down samba
4. edited smb.conf to support ldap backend
5. started up samba

username map = /path/smbusers
include = /path/%U.conf
...
My goal: that users comming from win saw there own folders specified in %U.conf

Now %U.conf is not seen if username map is included because unix user
= win user (with same passwd) in username map,

Seems to be related to schema and the ability of ldap to do substring

I have several boxes with CentOS versions 3.x, 4.x, and 5.x running in my
shop, with Samba loaded on many. I've been able to stay on the current
version of Samba in CentOS 4.x and 5.x using the source RPM from Sernet.
However, I'm not able to upgrade Samba on the CentOS 3.x boxes.

when I run wbinfo -u -domain=$DOMAIN I get the following log error:
