Hi,
I have a read-only fs and samba fails to start with the error message:
Failed to open /var/lib/samba/secrets.tdb
The file exists there but is of course read-only. Does samba need to
write to this secret file or why doesn't it want to open that file?

Bino,
The permissions should be 770 for directories. They need execute
privileges for directories to be able to get access to the directories.
You should be able to set the files for 660 though I don't believe it
will keep windows from executing a file.

Hi,
I'm a Mac user working in a company that is PC and Linux dominated. I have a
Mac at work and I funnel everything through it. I mount my Linux box onto my
Mac using Samba, and navigate it's filesystem through the Finder and run
programs on it while displaying all the X-windows back to my Mac

if it plays nicer with samba?
