People,
We are running SAMBA version 1-1 on OpenVMS 8.3-1h on integrity servers,
we want to stop the domain (OpenVMS) from asking for account information
when people try to access a share from another environment. We have the
domain master defined on the server running SAMBA as NO.
How can we st

I've used Samba to enable windows users to connect to an AIX server
and
use available space to put and keep files. My question is can Samba
go
the other way - enable someone on AIX to read a windows directory to
obtain a file.
Maybe. "man mount" and see if it has a smbfs protocol. Y

Do NOT use a '.' character in a workgroup/domain name. In MS Windows NT4

I am interested in trying Samba 3.5.x, how can I check on library dependencies

I have setup Samba 3.4.7 as a network file server for a Windows XP machine and

the attributes and create/modify dates and my searches have found some mention
of modifying Samba to accomplish this. Has anyone made th

Jeff,
With all respect, please note that Samba is not your usual UNIX
networking toolset - it implements SMB/CIFS, a t
Jeff,
I'm no expert, but my understanding is that the FORCE USER and FORCE GROUP
configuration statements only define the *ownership* of created files, not
who is allowed to create them. My inference from your post suggests that
might be what you're expecting - apologies if that's not correct.

Hello list!
I upgraded my Samba PDC from 3.3.4 to 3.5.3. My previous installation was
running fine, and I have not changed anything in my smb.conf. The reason for
the upgrade was that I was having problems joining a Win 7 client to the
domain, and figured a Samba upgrade could only help. Still no

this is bad idea ;)

OpenAFS is not supplied directly by CentOS/RHEL. You would have had to get
it from a 3rd party repo such as ATrpms/DAG or install from
