Well, this code patch seems to fix the problem with my missing groups...
Seems like because they were declared as well known groups (Domain Admins,
Domain Users...etc.)
They weren't being listed...
Seems a bit odd for a PDC to not list well known groups... no?
It looks like the code was intend

Internet Explorer 9 on Windows 7 cannot save files on shares from Samba
3.5.11, but Firefox can do this.
With IE9 there is only a 0-Byte-file on the share.

A small addition:
When lost access to the server by name - when accessing the server by IP
address, for example, \\10.0.0.11\ - access is granted.

Yeah, that's actually what I ended up doing. I am now running 3.5.8,
which is the "blessed" version of Samba with Clearcase 7.1.2.3, so
they can't say I'm out of compliance anymore. :) We'll see what
