I've seen other folks posting with this problem, but I think my issue is a
bit different (thus the super long subject).
The environment is Solaris 9 09/05, running Samba 3.0.22/Sun DS 5.2/idealx
scripts 0.9.1, but I can translate openldap/linux/samba-ese if you think of
a solution that wou
Do you have any entries showing up in your log.smbd or your ldap

OK, I switched from storing the next available uidNumber and gidNumber in
the sambaDomainName object and put them into the old way of doing it -
putting them in cn=NextFreeUnixId. Now I can join machines to the domain.
Actually what put me on the right path was the suggestion that it was a

So I was having problems getting a machine to join to a samba PDC running on
Solaris 9 using the bundled LDAP server. Ill skip all my previous
troubleshooting steps here (Ive tried just about anything and everything).
Anyway - so I deleted all of the attributes for samba in the directory and

Hello,
Im stumped - never had this problem before (just setting up a development
server so I can properly document all the steps I took to get a samba pdc
working before). Everything else works but joining the domain. Its a

I got this thing working late yesterday, so I wanted to update the archives

I saw essentially these solutions to a problem that sounded like mine (cant

Thanks for your offer - Im a bit under a time crunch and hoping to get this

Hello all,
I currently have an NT4 Domain that I wish to upgrade to Samba 3.0/LDAP but
because of legacy reasons its not quite the simple changeover talked about
in the Official Guide to Samba 3.0 (which I am currently reading before I go
about changing anything else).
At any rate - the current e
o I haven't bothered to look around.
Under Panther I do believe you can put an smb mount share in using the
Netinfo manager, but I haven't ever done this (since said ugly workaround
gets the job done and I haven't bothered to fix it).
