This may be sorta off topic considering this is probably regarding the
linux kernel but I am hoping someone here will have the answer anyway.
I am having the strangest problem when mounting a samba share with "-t
cifs" as opposed to "-t smbfs" where, instead of mounting as the user I am
logged in
I don't know, but I don't think its a good idea... many times ISP's will
even block such traffic...
what I would do is tunnel over SSH... this would make it secure, give you
the chance to use compression, cut though a firewall, and still be sharp
enough to thinly slice a tomato...

not quite sure what this has to do with samba, but one could write a
logon.bat that merges a registry file with the settings you need... then,
when said user logs on, they hit the bat, the bat merges the reg file, and
the system is then configured to do as you wish...

The low speed of writes with the MS-DOS, MS newtworking client has to do with
the limit of MAXSENDSIZE (from TCPUTILS.INI)
By default, the value is 1024, but the maximum value is 2048. If this value

suffer GREATLY.
Hey folks,
I was having a problem at work with Samba 2.2.3a (SuSE 8.0) as well as a Redhat
machine I know nothing about and an HP Workstation station I know nothing about.
Each had painfully slow writes from dos clients (for using Norton Ghost). I tried
many machines, many nics, and even playe
