still trying hard to get my linux-clients into samba.
- doing 'net join -U root -S server' brings error messages no suitable
server found on client - but works on the samba machine and on all
windoze-machines.
- wbinfo -u -g -t works without any problem on the samba machine

i try since weeks to authenticate my linux-clients against my samba-server.
This works very fine with 2 windoze-cliens. but i still cannot
authenticate with my linux-clients.

Client/ Windows Linux
Device
Shareworks works*
Printer works works
Domain-Auth. works doesn't work
* works via mount -t .
i installed winbind on the
hi list (or people inside)
i've got a server running with samba 3.0 on linux. i have all my clients
dual-boot, meaning win and linux installed on them.
my samba-server is configured as pdc, with auth.method=smbpasswd.
All works fine with my win-clients. I get connected, authenticated and
i still have roving profiles enabled on my clients. how can i tell the
samba-server, not to offer roving profiles, so they are stored on the
machines themselves??

this - without pam (in the hope this would work...) but this constellation
seems to be needed, as i still cannot connect, even if winbind logs my
domain as accepted.

or use 'encrypt password = yes' as i read, the pam.d-things are just
needed if you don't submit your passwords encrypted. btw. all later
windows-clients (from nt4 on) just support encrypted password=yes. all
other should somehow fail in wrong password..
