I have tried to setup Samba version 2.2.5.0 on my RS6000 server. First I
downloaded the new version from samba.org and it said that gcc -O failed.
If gcc failed then the binaries may not have been built. Did it build
/usr/local/bin/smbd ?

I couldn't get 2.2.5 from Bull to work either. However I downloaded gcc from
Bull and built 2.2.7a from the source and it was completely straightforward.
