I need some ldap - AD queries from a linux client, which is member of
the respective domain.
This work fine, when the user on that linux client has gotten a kerberos
ticket .
As in that domain the passwords do frequently change, I would like to
use the credentials of the machine account
of that
I have a suse 10.2 system, that runs the latest samba version, Suse
provides for 10.2: 3.0.23d-6
After a long time I had to join that system to an AD domain.
Unfortunately that did not work as expected.
net ads join -U [EMAIL PROTECTED] -d4
asks for a password, but then it fails with:
...
[200
?
I hope to make a TP4 release this week, if all things go to plan.
Will that version contain a working 'read only server' as mentioned in
http://marc2.theaimsgroup.com/?l=samba&m=115938943502425&w=2 ?

get_service_ticket: kerberos_kinit_password

credentials have been revoked

googling around I found some interesting information about samba4.
It is said, samba4 shall have an ldap server of its own, not openldap.
Is this correct? If so, could this server fully participate in AD
replication?
Does a timeframe exist, within which samba4 shall arrive?
Thanks
Norbert
I have joined a windows domain, which is part of a larger active
directory forest.
wbinfo -m gives me a long list of domains.
ldapsearch gives me a long list of AD information, but in the end an error:
ldapsearch -LLL -C -h ww901.mycompany.net -b
"DC=WW901,dc=mycompany,dc=NET" -s sub
"(&(serv
automatically.
How could this be achieved using samba tools?
Thanks

-tools?
I thought, nmblookup could do the job, but did not succeed with it.

A dual boot machine is member of a domain when started with WinXP.
Is it possible to transfer the "relevant" data from windows to the linux
directory structure, so that when booting linux,
the machine is also member of that domain? If so, which data must be
copied from->to?
Thanks

My samba server is member of an ad domain. In that domain, windows
clients can easily get their machine certificates via windows means.
How can I get a machine certificate from the AD server for the smaba
machine?
Thanks
