I don't have a lot of experience of Samba, but under windows that's exactly
what I'd expect to see if you copied a bunch of files. To retain timestamps
under windows you generally need to use a backup program and not a copy one.
However, since you're using Nautilus, are you actually using
this:

rob-055 (192.168.1.55) connect to service samba initially as user

Answering my own question again, after several days of searching I've
again found the solution within minutes of posting a question here.
The answer to the NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE is that you need to create the
/etc/krb5/krb5.keytab file:
?
This is my first time posting, I've attached the smb.conf and krb5.conf
files but I'm not sure if they will be visible, please let me know if I
need to copy/paste them into a message instead.
thanks,
Ross

A quick question to the list: Has anyone installed HP's alpha
release?
Hi Ross,
Thanks for reporting here. I've not installed CIFS, because I
don't have V8.2 of VMS (yet). I was also leery at first, because
Using the patch
http://www.smithii.com/files/samba-3.0.14a.cygwin.patch
I am able to run Samba 3.0.14a on a Windows XP box as well as under BartPE
(WinPE).
Details on the steps involved are listed at
http://smithii.com/?q=node/view/36
A better patch would be to use a ROOT_UID define, as
starting from scratch.
I had hesitated in part because at some point I think John said that he
had not incorporated the fixes you'd made in 2.2.8 into his version.
Thanks again!
