If you are using PAM in your setup,
http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/pam.html
You might want to look into passwdqc pam module which gives similar password
restrictions as on windows domains.

I am using samba 3.0.23a on linux server. The problem I m facing is as
follow :
1) client mount a volume using a login :
net use J: \\192.168.0.100\Share /user:login password
Volume is mounted and I can browse the files.
2) If i check net use the volume is mounted, but there is no status (

I have several smbfs mounts on different servers which I would like to
automatically reconnect to the share if ever the file server
shutsdown. Basically the problem I have is our snapAppliance NAS
takes roughly 10 minute to boot. 2 nights ago we had power failure
and UPS problems and all our serv

In browse.dat or wins.dat there is no trace of the remote workstations

I just migrated my samba PDC from Samba 2.2.1a on HP-UX to Samba 2.2.3a on
RH7.2 (using the rawhide rpms). My clients are Win2kSP2, and there are no
BDC's on the network. The server should do PDC, homes, profiles and logon
