Another shot in the dark . . . .
and I don't believe you've stated what fs type your using, but have you
tried storing the data using other fs types or playing with the mount
options?

[EMA
Solaris has no problems running samba. But it sounds like you have both
samba2 & samba3 installed to different locations. You need to verify this
& sort it out.

My crude hack at a solution, but it works for me so here goes . . . . .
#!/bin/sh
# /usr/local/bin/get_grp_mem
#
# is derived from:
#
# wbinfo -n
#
# S-1-2-33-44-5-6-X User (1)
#
# = S-1-2-33-44-5-6
#
grpid=`wbinfo -n $1 | sed 's/-//' | sed '
;.
That being said, I've had good luck with it personally, but don't yell
at me if a bug in it causes data loss!

Ryan

I gotta put my vote in for ext3. While it is slower than the other fs's:
- It's robust. I've researched this & it seems you can bash ext3/2 pretty
hard & still recover data. I saw too many stories of lost data on the
other fs's for my liking.
- It's fully supported. ACL, xattr, quota, LVM snaps

True, would be good to share both SMB and NFS from the same

I can't speak too much about 2.x , been on 3.x for a while now. But the
samba server on the nfs box will need to tie in to the same user
