correct and the smb.conf file looks good and the user either owns the file /
directory or is listed in the group.

I have a strange problem here. I have a network of Windows NT and XP clients that
print to printers shared by Samba.
When I double click on the printer icon, the queue opens and it says in the title bar,
"Initializing", then "Failed to connect, Retrying".
I was able to resolve this on Windo
Have you applied the XP registry fix to disable signorseal ?

I had already setup my printers in lpd.conf and smb.conf.
Plus, I don't have a "add printer command" script.

I am trying to associate a driver that i installed with mkprintpkg and
install_printer_drivers.pl with the printer that its supposed to go with.
this is a log of what is happening:
nendral:~ # rpcclient nendral -U root -W
Enter Password:
session setup ok
Domain=[] OS=[Unix] Server=[
From what I understand when I setup a WinXP domain using Samba PDC,
You need to be running 2.2.4 or later of samba.
The reason behind this is that 2.2.4 provides support for Windows XP in a domain
environment.

I ran accross an article a while back, and for the life of me I can't find it to save
my life now.
This article explained how to take a mapped network drive (to samba share) on NT and
re-share it to the rest of the network as if the share lived on the nt box itself.
Does anyone know how to do t
from i shell i can do mount -t smbfs -o
username=,password=,wordgroup=,rw,uid=
/// /mout/point
you should look at the man page for mount.
anyone else have any ideas?

You either did not setup the machine's account manually on the samba server,
or you did not specify a add user script
or the add user scripted failed to work correctly.
NT, 2K, and XP machines need their own machine account on the samba server,
as well as the user's account who will be logging on

I recommend that you run the latest version of Samba, 2.2.4 I think, if you have
windows XP machines to add to the domain.
You'll want to add the following line to your smb.conf file in the [globals] section:
add user script = /usr/sbin/useradd -d /dev/null -g 100 -s /dev/false -M %u
That will
mac and ip addresses)?

I remember reading something about having to set nt use acls = no or similar in the
globals section. Do you think that this is related to this problem?
