Hi all,
Can anyone point me in the right direction to apply Group Policies from a
Samba 3.0.26 PDC to my Windows XP and Vista clients. I read chapter 26 of
the Samba manual (dated April 3 2003) and I was wondering if the
NTConfig.POL file in the NETLOGON share is the way to go here?

We migrated from FreeBSD 5.2 with Samba 3.0.22 to samba 3.0.24 on Linux,
Kernel 2.6.17. Some users are running foxpro programms on XP and W2K and have
problems now concerning locked files. The old FreeBSD server never had such

You can do this all in one step with the following command:
smbpasswd -j -r -U
Where DOMAIN is the name of your domain (should be the same as the workgroup
parameter in your 'smb.conf' file), DOMAIN_CONTROLLER is the name of the
Primary Domain Controller of your dom

host resolution issue --dns was screwed up resolving [PDC] - I had a private
dns that excluded that subnet :(

Perhaps this is a repeat, but:
Installed 2.2.7 from source (compiled with no options, just ./configure,
make, make install)
In our smb.conf, the line of interest is:
login script = %u.bat
(lowercase u)
causes samba (not sure if it's smbd or nmbd) to fatally crash, and in the
