Does anyone know how to manually edit the UID and GID to SID database
(.TDB files) so that I can specify exactly what user gets what ID?

I understand about the configuration options on the Windows side, but what
my problem is that no matter what I setup on the windows side, the clients
do not behave properly with offline files from my Samba server. If I set
them offline from a windows server, there is no problem. I only

policy manager to create the policies that I want and have successfully run
offline files from a Windows server, my trouble is that when I move to a
Samba server, the Windows PCs have improper behavior. (i.e. files

I have a RHEL3 box with the stock 3.0.9-1.3E.2 build of Samba.
Winbind is setup and connected properly and has been running fine for over
a year.
But winbind no longer recognizes my userid. My active directory account
was not deleted, moved, or edited at any point around the time o

Check your clocks on both your AD server and samba box. They need to be
as close to eachother as possible.
Also, check your Kerberos connection using kinit and kpasswd. That will
tell you if your Kerberos is setup properly.
