I was able to find a package for ubuntu, and got it installed. It is
now creating those fields in LDAP. I hope this gets rid of my trust
issues but I guess I will have to wait 30 days to find out.

For some unknown reason when adding a computer to my domain there are
some entries in ldap it is not creating.

I thought I had setup winbind correctly as I can login to my ubuntu
9.04 machine with domain users, but I am trying to get ntlm working
with squid, and while testing winbind I get the following error.

plaintext password authentication failed
Could not authenticate

I can join a windows 7 computers to the domain. But about 66%(random
number) of the time I get an error, "trust relationship failed between
computer and domain", when trying to login. But
I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I just started
adding windows 7 to my domain, and my logon scripts are not running. They
arent even trying to run. How do you enforce policies on windows 7?

Oh, this is the error I get in windows:
Logon Failure: unknown user name or bad password.
But this same user can logon, and gets admin rights when they do logon.

This isnt what I was looking for, I still want to be able to access the
folders. I just dont want to see it unless view all is turned on in windows.
I am storing the users outlook files on there mapped drive but I dont want

I notice that in the LDAP the profiles are store in a network share. Is it
possible to use a different samba server not setup as a PDC/BDC to share
these profile. for an example maybe setup a little samba box on a remote
site, that stores profiles and home dirs, but still auth against the PDC.

password, it did change it in samba we have tested on another machine. but
when checking phpldapadmin it still shows the old password

Fixed it. I aint sure what I should set it to, but I set the profiles dir on
the linux machine to 777. I know my bad, but it works
