It's a bug in 2.2.3a. Fixed in 2.2.4.

I was able to fix the access denied errors on my Samba 2.2.3a installation
recently. I am not exactly sure which piece fixed it but here is what I
did:
In the global section I put:
use client driver = yes
printer admin = @users (this is the group of all the users)
in the printers section I put
