Did you have any details on the windows patch that caused this, we are
seeing a similar issue with one of our systems.
To answer myself:
From what I understood, it seems this is a Samba bug in version 2.0.x,
that was triggered by a recent Windows patch. There was a slight change
I found that it has to do with Microsoft Security Bulleting KB885835. I
Un-installed the patch on my Windows 2K Servers and I can now delete
files on the SAMBA shares. So either upgrading SAMBA or Un-installing
the Patch will work.

I have been running samba 2.0.7 on a K420 hpux server for many years and it
's been working great. However, it 's been the last couple of days, I cannot
delete files in a samba share from the window 2000 clients. Every time I
tried to delete a file, this error message popped up "Cannot delete
